Blazers are one of those staple items of your wardrobe that you often forget is there, but when it comes to Spring and Summer days that have a little chill in the air, or if you’re going out on an evening and need a light jacket to cover up with, the blazer comes to the rescue as the perfect hybrid item. It can be worn during the week with your work clothes, jazzed up with an evening outfit for that smart casual look, and can even be customised for formal occasions such as weddings and birthday parties! In short, we love the blazer and so we thought we would put together a list of 10 shops where you can find your perfect plus size blazer.
“The global leader in premium plus size fashion” has 180 blazers currently on their website, and they have designs, colours and styles which can suit any occasion. We particularly like the Doris Streich linen jacket for the different unique features it has. The waterfall front of the jacket is flattering for larger busts and the soft jersey detailing on the sides and underarms gives the blazer some stretch which will hug your curves in a lovely way. The final piece de resistance in this piece is the pockets – yes actual pockets!
H&M don’t necessarily have the largest collection of plus size blazers, but they are always on trend with their clothing and so it’s definitely a good place to find one which fits in with this seasons clothing style. We like their black “jacket”, yes that’s the product name, as it is the perfect hybrid piece for office and going out. It has ruched three quarter sleeves and a traditional blazer silhouette, perfect for layering over trousers and a blouse, or jeans and a sparkly top.
Yours clothing is another company which has a number of blazer styles on their website, including many which are a longer length, giving even more options for styling. We love the Dusky Pink Lightweight Duster Jacket as it’s a lovely coat and statement piece for this season. The long length helps to elongate the body, whilst the waterfall front is flattering to your body shape. This is just one of many such blazers they have on their website.
Curvissa is one of the go-to online companies for plus size clothing and for plus size blazers they are a good resource also. They have a number of different styles from formal to casual including this amazing military style Linea Tesini Jersey Blazer which features a full hem of faux buttons. The colour is perfect for combining with formal blacks and greys for work or bold prints like in this picture for a casual weekend look.
Whilst Peter Hahn may not be a company you are as familiar with as other names on this list, their expertise since the 60’s in designing and manufacturing coats and jackets make them a must for this list. The plus size blazers on their website are classic, timeless pieces which are perfect for both a younger and older demographic. Geometric prints are very much a focus this season, whilst retaining the traditional cut of the blazer. We particularly like this Jersey Blazer with black and white diamond print and three-quarter sleeves.
Whilst River Island is still expanding and developing its plus size collection, it does have a number of plus size blazers which are a little different from the others in this list, so we wanted to add them here. In particular, most blazers have three-quarter sleeves, but RI have three styles which offer a full sleeve. We particularly like the bold green, double breasted blazer which features bold gold buttons and pocket detailing.
We all know ASOS and we all love ASOS and as usual they offer a different range of blazers than other retailers. They are slightly limited, they only have 10 styles, but the ones they have are lovely and very different. For example, this Relaxed Blazer in Fine Stripe from Fashion Union is a modern twist on the plus size blazer. It has an open neckline, double breasted front, full sleeves and is loose fitting for a more relaxed look.
Think a blazer is a boring piece of clothing? Think again! Boohoo Plus is the place to go if you want a plus size blazer which is a little different. They have a range of pieces from long, to short, sporty casual to formal and in particular this season they feature a number of bold colours. We love the Kate Ruffle Hem collarless jacket which comes in seven different colours and have wide ruffle sleeves. The ruffle hem of the jacket will also accentuate the natural curves of your body whilst keeping it flattering and beautiful.
New Look is one of those high street stores that generally always has what you’re looking for, and for blazers you will not be disappointed. They offer both the regular fit blazers and more unusual styles and all of their blazers are under £40 meaning they’re a great affordable piece for this season. We like the Black Floral Crepe Longline Blazer for its understated, yet beautiful floral print, a perfect piece for formal occasions or work whilst retaining a lovely feminine touch.
Evans clothing has been the go-to high street store for plus size clothing for many years and it does not disappoint in terms of keeping abreast of other companies which have also begun to stock plus size clothing. They don’t have a very large selection of blazers but they are very affordable and we particularly love their City Chic Black Lace Blazer which is unlike anything else we’ve seen whilst compiling this list. It’s the perfect blazer for weddings and other formal occasions.
